CMP Advanced Mechanical Solutions Adopts PLM Model

CMP applies strategic business approach – Product Lifecycle Management, to better serve customers and their products.

Chateauguay, Quebec – These days, communication and collaboration with customers are key for most companies’ success.  This is particularly important in the solution/service industry such as CMP’s.  Not only do they have to meet their customers’ requirements but also understand the end customers’ needs. 

CMP already maintains dedicated resources for customer service and up front support but they took it a level up by adding a dedicated PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) group.  PLM is a business approach to support all aspects of a products’ life from its design inception through its manufacture to end of life.  Because CMP offers a complete electro-mechanical enclosure solution from design to manufacturing and mechanical integration, it made sense to dedicate resources to customer products flowing through their facilities.  CMP realigned people and processes to protect and grow their customers’ innovations and build an essential foundation for optimal design, cost effective production and engineering change management throughout a product’s life.

“Even though they aren’t CMP branded products, we are involved from Day 1 in the design, engineering and manufacturing of the product.  We aren’t successful unless our customers are successful so this heightens the importance of the entire product lifecycle within our walls,” said John Soares, VP of Design, Engineering & Product Development at CMP.  “With the efficient, effective collaboration and communication channel that a PLM model opens up, we can respond even quicker to customer requirements & changes which results in significant cost & development time improvements.”

CMP adopted this model in late 2007 and is already experiencing the difference and benefits that this strategic approach offers.
